Poor guy just celebrated his 29th birthday a couple weeks ago.

He’s one of the nicest people in the world.

At STL’s Warped Tour in 2006 Armor for sleep had played right before The Academy Is… at the same stage and Ben’s microphone stand had gotten knocked off the stage and into the crowd. My head caught it. The back of the actual mic knocked me in the head and I had a lump about 2 seconds later. I met Ben after the set was over and he kept apologizing and giving me hugs, he felt awful, but I was fine and it’s not like it was his fault. shit happens.

ANYWAY, after TAI’s set I was standing off near the fence and Ben had come back to give me a free shirt. Sisky and the Butcher walked over and Sisky goes, “Ben’s giving girls brain damage and using t-shirts to make up for it,” and everyone but Ben thought it was funny. I got hugs from them all and Butcher kissed my lump on my head ‘to make it better’. And then Bill walked over for about five seconds before girls were swarming because he was there so he pretty much ran away, but I got a hug in that five seconds.

Anyway, they’re super nice people and the Butcher’s a sweetie for kissing some random, sweaty girl at Warped Tour on her head lump to ‘make it better’.

Sorry, that all seemed totally random, but that memory came back the moment I heard about him getting attacked. I seriously was like, “Aw! No! He kissed my head lump Ben gave me with his mic!” lol….

I really hope he recovers well and the jackasses who jumped him get caught. But the sad part is, they wont. He’s not even 1 out of 10 people per night who get attacked in Humboldt Park on a regular basis. That area is scary. I’ve been there once for five minutes in a car with rolled up windows during the daytime and that was scary enough!
